1. Lai Mohammed Reveals Identity Of Police Operatives Allegedly Killed By IPOB

President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has accused the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of executing two operatives of the Nigerian Police Force.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed in a statement released on Monday said the security outfit of IPOB, Eastern Security Network carried out the murder.

According to the Minister, those behind the “killings, who videotaped their heinous act and circulated such will be apprehended and brought to justice”.

Mohammed described the murder of the police operatives as horrific, barbaric and cannibalistic manner, as an unacceptable attack against the state.

The minister listed the victims as ASP Francis Idoko (AP No. 154945); Inspector Emmanuel Akubo (AP No. 222336) and Inspector Rufai Adamu (AP. No. 285009).

2. Kalu Visits Nnamdi Kanu In DSS Custody, Shares Discussion

Former Abia State Governor, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu has revealed that he was at the office of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday to visit the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Naija News reports that the Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate made public details of his discussion with Kanu on his verified Facebook page after the visit.

Kalu said his visit to the office of the secret police was to encourage the embattled Biafran agitator to consider the consequences of certain actions and utterances for the sake of the Igbo people.

The senator said though his ideology and Kanu’s are on different clock hands, he will not stop to advise the agitator as a brother.

3. APC Speaks On Zoning National Chairmanship Position To North Central

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked trending rumours that the party has zoned its National Chairmanship position to the North Central.

Speaking to newsmen on Monday in Abuja, the National Secretary, APC Caretaker, and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Sen. James Akpanudoedehe said those spreading the rumour are only trying to tilt public opinion on the matter in the favour of their own region.

He revealed further that the mandate of the CECPC doesn’t cover the issue of zoning.

Akpanudoedehe made the clarification after reports emerged in some sections of the media as well as social media that APC had zoned its chairmanship seat to the North Central ahead of the expected February 2022 National Convention of the party.

4. State Governors Are The Ones Funding Federal Police In Their States – Fayemi Advocates State Policing Again

The Ekiti State Governor and Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has again advanced reasons why Nigeria must adopt a state policing system.

The Governor on Monday stated that multi-level policing is an idea whose time has come and those against it will sooner or later have a change of heart.

He argued that even as things stand, the state governors are the ones funding the federal police in their respective states by buying vehicles, diesel, providing allowances and insurance cover for them.

Fayemi however lamented that despite all these, the governors don’t have control over the police but creating multi-level policing will be a good step towards addressing the security challenges in the country.

The Ekiti State Governor made the submissions in Lagos while delivering the convocation lecture at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba.

5. I’ll Not Negotiate With Bandit Terrorists Again – Sheikh Gumi

Renowned controversial Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi, has said he will no longer engage himself in any negotiation with bandit terrorists.
Naija News reports that Gumi made the declaration in an interview with TVC on Monday.

In an extract of the interview, Sheikh Gumi said the declaration of bandits as terrorists by the federal government has made it difficult for clergymen like him to intervene in the current security situation.

Sheikh Gumi who was responding to President Muhammadu Buhari-led government declaration of bandits as terrorists said the declaration was coming at a time the bandits were willing to negotiate.

He, however, noted that going by the recent declaration by the federal government, he will no longer engage the bandits.

6. Kaduna State Govt To Experiment, Implement Four-Day Working Week

Workers in Kaduna State will start running a Monday-Thursday working week as from December 1, 2022, the state government has announced.

The special adviser to Governor Nasir El-Rufai on media and communication, Muyiwa Adekeye disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

He explained that the policy is based on lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and is targeted at boosting productivity while at the same time giving workers more bonding time with their families.

Adekeye further stated that the new four-day working week will be on a temporary basis as workers would be allowed to work from home on Fridays and will not involve public servants in schools and healthcare facilities for now.

The Governor’s media aide added that the private sector will be given adequate time to adjust and work out modalities for the new policy.

He added that the temporary structure will run until proper adjustments and legal frameworks are put in place for full transition.

7. Twitter Has Agreed To FG’s Conditions – Keyamo

Social media platform, Twitter, has agreed to all the conditions presented to it by the Nigerian Government in order to lift the suspension of its operations in the country.

Naija News reports that the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN), made the disclosure during an appearance on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics.

Keyamo stated that Twitter has met the 12 conditions given to it by the federal government and the suspension of their operations in the country will soon be lifted.

The minister stated that a technical committee was set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to meet with Twitter and review their operations since its ban in the country and to find a solution to the impasse.

He submitted that the committee has recorded significant progress since its inauguration, asking Nigerians to be patient with the government regarding the issue.

8. FG Bans 91 Private Jets Belonging To Pastors, Business Moguls, Others

The Federal Government has banned 91 private jets belonging to pastors, oil moguls, bank executives and businessmen over alleged failure to pay import duties.
Naija News reports that the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Col Hameed Ali, (retd.), gave the directive in a letter dated November 2, 2021.

In the letter which was addressed to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), the Customs boss asked the three agencies to stop the operations of the affected private jets for refusing to pay over N30bn import duties.

Ali also asked the three agencies to indefinitely deny the private jets administrative and operational flight clearances until they offset their debts.

He stated that the service decided to ground the operations of the affected private jets after it was discovered that the import duties on the carriers have not been paid since 2006.

However, some of the private jet owners protested the Customs directive arguing they cannot pay import duties on the planes because the jets are under lease payments.

9. 11 Dead, 252 Inmates Escape In Jos Prison Break

Eleven people have been reported dead and seven injured in the invasion of the Jos Medium Security Custodial Centre on Sunday.

In a statement on Monday by the spokesman of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Francis Enobore, nine inmates died and six others were injured during a gun duel between the attackers and Armed Squad officers of the service.

Enonbore disclosed that one of the gunmen trapped within the facility was killed and identified as one of those attackers of the federal facility

The Service spokesman also revealed that an official of the Service lost his life in the encounter while another officer was severely injured.

He, however, said that ten fleeing inmates that escaped from the facility have been recaptured, adding that 252 inmates are still on the run.

10. Lionel Messi Makes History, Wins 2021 Ballon d’Or

Argentine forward and Paris Saint-Germain striker, Lionel Messi has emerged as the winner of the 2021 men’s Ballon d’or.

The talismanic player made history on Monday night when he was declared winner of the award ahead of all other contestants including Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski.

With the 2021 award in the kitty, 34-year-old Messi has now won the Ballon d’Or for a record seventh time.

Naija News reports the Ballon d’Or held at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France.

Messi’s closest rival in the list of winners of the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, Cristiano Ronaldo who has 5 wins to his name could only manage a 6th place finish on Monday night in the top list of players contesting for the 2021 award.
