Nollywood actor and member of the Lagos House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot has stated that he never called for the regulation of social media.

In an interview with TVC News, the politician said that he did not call for regulation of social media.

Naija News recalls that Nigerians had bashed the politician during the Endsars protest for calling them children. Desmond at that time had asked the youths to make use of their PVC in changing the government instead of posting negative narratives. He also called on his colleagues to make good use of the platform.

In a recent interview, Desmond stated that he was misunderstood as he believed in freedom of speech and he was never against the regulation of social media.

He went on to state that he was simply against the peddling of fake news that could be harmful to individuals while also stressing that he sees social media as means of relaxation.
