Nollywood actor cum Labour Party candidate for Surulere 1 Constituency, Olumide Oworu, has broken his silence after losing the House of Assembly election to his senior colleague, Desmond Elliot and the controversy surrounding his name missing from the ballot.

Naija News earlier reported that Oworu contested to unseat his colleague and incumbent lawmaker in the just concluded election.

The final list of gubernatorial and state House of Assembly candidates obtained by Daily Trust shows that Oworu’s name was indeed missing from the INEC list.

Instead, the electoral umpire listed 47-year-old Bode Adedayo as the Labour Party’s authentic candidate for the election.

In a statement on Tuesday, Oworu said his participation in the election process was not for clout and blamed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for not including his name on the ballot.

With regards to the absence of his name on the ballot, Oworu stated that INEC failed to obey a court order issued on February 2 directing the commission to open its website for the Labour Party to submit the names of its candidates or accept the manual submission.

The thespian added that the electoral umpire failed to upload the names on the list sent by LP in October 2022, adding that the endeavour was borne out for genuine change.
