2023: Why Buhari Should Support Igbo Presidency - Ohanaeze

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has mocked the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over its earlier comment on the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the state.

Naija News reported that the proscribed pro-Biafra group had declared Thursday, September 9, 2021, as sit-at-home in the South-East state.

In a broadcast on Monday evening by IPOB-HDOS, Mazi Chika Edoziem, the group stated that Buhari is not welcomed into the state.

The group also warned all the traditional rulers and every resident of the state to stay away from any ceremony organized by governor Uzodimma to welcome the President.

But in an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, Uzodimma berated IPOB for giving out unnecessary orders to residents of the state and the entire Igbo.

According to the governor, the sit-at-home order issued by the outlawed group only exist on social media platforms and not in reality.

The governor stated that the sit-at-home order is not in Imo state, because he never issued any sit-at-home order to anyone.

Uzodinma added that residents of the state were excited about the president’s visit and that they came out to welcome him.

He said: “We meant it. Our people came. You could see that with the sit-at-home order, which is only a social media sit-at-home order. The sit-at-home order is not in Imo state, because we never issued any sit-at-home order.

“Imo people are excited. lmo people are happy that the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, one united Nigeria with common destiny, visited Imo, commissioned projects, spoke to his people and we are happy.

“And he left happy. There was no security breach, no incident of disloyalty. There was no violence.

Uzodinma revealed that Southeast leaders and the entire Igbo nation have promised to support the policies of the Buhari administration

The governor added that the president has shown sufficient interest in the yearnings of Imolites and the Igbo people.

He added: “What is important to me is that Mr President visited and you could see the excitement of the entire Igbo nation. The leadership received Mr President, commended Mr President, pledged to support Mr President’s government and policies.

“When we say this, we mean it. We meant every inch of the word — that we are supporting the president; we are supporting his administration, and we are supporting his policies, because Mr President has shown sufficient interest in terms of pragmatic approach in listening and being sensitive to the yearnings of Imolites and Igbo people in general.”
