Only Correct Prophecy On Presidential Election Winner - Omokri Reveals

A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has given reasons why President Muhammadu Buhari nominated former Chief of Army Staff, General Buratai as a non-career ambassador.

Recall that Buhari on Thursday forwarded their names to the Senate for confirmation.

Buhari’s letter to Senate President Ahmad Lawan on this development reads: “In accordance with section 171 (1), (2) (c) & sub-section (4) of 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I have the honour to forward for confirmation by the Senate, the under-listed five (5) names of nominees as Non-Career Ambassadors-Designate.”

The nominees are: Gen Abayomi G. Olonisakin (Rtd ), Lt Gen Tukur Y. Buratai (Rtd), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (Rtd), and Air Vice Marshal Mohammed S. Usman (Rtd).

The President called on the lawmakers to give quick attention to the recommendation.

Reacting in a post on Twitter, Omokri said Buhari made the move to protect Buratai from getting arrested by the International Criminal Court over the Lekki massacre.

According to him, Buhari wants to grant diplomatic immunity to Buratai.

“General Muhammadu Buhari has sent former chief of Army Staff, General Buratai’s, name to the Nigerian Senate as an ambassador-designate.

“The plan is to give him diplomatic immunity so he can’t be arrested by the International Criminal Court, @IntlCrimCourt, over lekki massacre,” he said
