Lagos Shuts Landmark Centre, 11 Others For Flouting COVID-19 Regulations

The Lagos State Government has closed down 12 facilities across the state for failing to adhere to coronavirus (COVID-19) regulations concerning social and recreational centers.

Naija News reports that the enforcement was carried out by the Mr. Lanre Mojola-led Lagos State Safety Commission while monitoring the compliance with the government’s directive on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mojola said the establishments that broke the government’s seal and continued partying will be charged to court once documentation has been properly processed.

According to him, the commission would leave no stone unturned to achieve the mandate of curbing the spread of COVID-19.

The facilities shut down include DNA Night Club, Buzz Bar, Silverfox, Cocoon, Westend Nightclub, Rumours, Lekki Waterside, Landmark Event Centre, The Wave Beach club amongst others.

He said the failure to observe safety guidelines at restaurants, bars, cafes and public places increases the chance of spreading the virus.

He advised people to observe the necessary safety precautions as they go about celebrating the Christmas holidays.

Recall the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) on Saturday recorded 829 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

Naija News reports that newly confirmed cases bring Nigeria’s total infection to 83,576, with 70,495 discharged so far.

This Newspaper reports that the disease control agency also recorded 1,247 unfortunate death.
