We’ll Restore Your Devastated Communities, President Buhari Assures IDPs

The Buhari administration has said it will not succumb to any threats or pressure, especially from those calling on the president to implement requests based on their “selfish need”.

Malam Garba Shehu, a media adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, disclosed on Friday that the message was directed to persons threatening with language such as “the nation will break up”.

“This is to warn that such unpatriotic outbursts are both unhelpful and unwarranted as this government will not succumb to threats and take any decision out of pressure”

Although the statement did not specify who it was referring to, it said what the country needed now was to address security concerns in the face of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the president as the one elected under the constitution would continue to work with patriotic Nigerians and take appropriate steps to address the challenges facing the development of the people.

We reported earlier that President Buhari on Friday jetted out of Abuja for his hometown, Daura in Katsina State, to begin a seven-day private visit.

Naija News reports that this is President Buhari’s first visit since December 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The president’s ‘private visit’ was made known in a statement by Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled “President Buhari in Daura on week-long private visit.”
