1. Boko Haram No Longer Collect Tax From Nigerians – Lai Mohammed

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has said the Boko Haram terrorist group no longer occupies any part of the country and hence they no longer receive tax from citizens.

The Minister stated this on Thursday, December 3 during an interaction with the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigerian, NPAN in Lagos State.

2. Maina Arrives Nigeria From Niger Republic

The wanted former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina has been successfully extradited to Nigeria from Niger Republic.

Naija News gathered Maina was brought back into the country on Thursday by a plane which landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at around 2.15pm.

3. Tinubu Holds Closed-Door Meeting With Oyetola, Aregbesola And Akande

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Thursday, held a closed-door meeting with Governor Gboyega Oyetola and his predecessor and current Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.

The meeting held at the residence of another chieftain of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande who is also attending the meeting.

4. The Presidency Feels No Empathy For Nigerians – NEF

President Muhammadu Buhari has been described by the Northern Elders Forum as a leader without empathy who has failed to see that Nigeria has a serious problem.

Hakeem Baba Ahmed, the spokesperson of the group, stated this while speaking on Channels TV over the increasing rate of insecurity in Nigeria.

5. #EndSARS: Police Tell Court To Declare State Judicial Panels Of Inquiry Illegal

The Nigeria Police Force has activated legal procedures to stop the #EndSARS judicial panels of inquiries set up by state governments to probe alleged cases of police brutality and other cases of human rights abuses.

The Police in a suit filed by its lawyer, Mr. O. M. Atoyebi before the Federal High Court in Abuja asked the court to stop the panels as the Police Force is not answerable to state governments under Nigeria’s constitution.

6. Boko Haram: We Will Not Help Nigeria Again – Mercenaries

Foreign military contractors (mercenaries) engaged by the administration of Immediate Past President Goodluck Jonathan have vowed never to return to Nigeria Naija News reports.

Recall that North East Governors had called on the Federal Government to engage foreign mercenaries in routing Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa forest and other insurgents’ enclaves.

7. Northern Elders Forum: Lai Mohammed Speaks On Buhari Resigning

The Northern Elders Forum has been called out by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, for calling for President Muhammadu Buhari’s resignation.

The Minister noted that his principal would complete his tenure despite calls from several quarters to resign.

8. 2023: Shekarau Speaks On Zoning Presidency To South

Ibrahim Shekarau, former Governor of Kano State on Thursday stated that the Southern part of Nigeria should produce the next president.

Shekarau while speaking on Channels TV noted that President Muhammadu Buhari who is from the North by 2023 would have completed eight years in power, hence the need to shift power to the South.

9. Terrorism May Likely Continue In Nigeria For 20 years – Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has said that there is a possibility of more terrorist activities in Nigeria for the next 20 years.

In a message posted on his Facebook page, Buratai said: “There is a general misunderstanding of what insurgency and terrorism entail. There is the likelihood of terrorism persisting in Nigeria for another 20 years.”.

10. Maina’s Lawyer Dumps Him, Withdraws From Case In Court

The Federal High Court in Abuja has allowed Mr Adeola Adedipe to withdraw from the corruption case against the former chairman of the Pensions Committee, Abdulrasheed Maina.

At a court hearing in Abuja on Thursday, Judge Kong Abang allowed the lawyer to resign because his employer had not yet to be paid for his services and is unable to locate Mr. Maina who engaged him to represent the company listed as the second defendant in the case.
