Enugu Govt Suspends Curfew Imposed In Three LGAs

The earlier imposed curfew as a result of unrest in Enugu State has been reviewed and relaxed by the state government.

This was confirmed in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, November 2 by the state Commissioner for Information, Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh, Naija News reports.

Aroh noted that the 13-hour curfew imposed on Enugu East, Enugu North and Enugu South Local Government Areas following chaos brought about by some hoodlums and miscreants who hijacked the supposed peaceful #ENDSARS protests in the state has now been relaxed and take effect 6 am on Monday, November 2, 2020.

According to the commissioner, the decision is to return total normalcy and sustained economic activity across the state in the interest of ‘Ndi Enugu’.

He said, “the decision to lift the curfew was after a considered review of the overall situation in the three local government areas” and in furtherance of the state government’s commitment to “total return of normalcy and sustained economic activity in the overall interest of Ndi Enugu”.

He added that the “normal social and economic activities will resume effective from 6am on Monday, November 2, 2020, without prejudice to all existing regulations put in place by the Federal Government as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

“Ndi Enugu are therefore advised to go about their lawful social and economic activities, while remaining vigilant and law-abiding as usual.” Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh said.

Meanwhile, the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has said that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, will not escape the judgment of God and people over the killings in Obigbo area of the state.
