Nigerians Feel Tensed Around Police – Kalu
Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, has reacted to the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad by Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
The lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial district while speaking on the protest against SARS noted that Nigerians live in fear around police.
Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on Sunday directed all officers of SARS to be redeployed with immediate effect.
The IGP in his statement noted that the dissolution of SARS is in response to the demands of Nigerians.
The former Abia State Governor in his reaction said, “when people live in fear, they will be skeptical of what’s coming next in their lives and that is totally unacceptable.”
“A number of SARS officers act with impunity.”
“Many Nigerians have complained about how tense they feel in checkpoints even when they have their required papers.”
“Let me use this medium to thank the IGP and the federal government for respecting the opinion of Nigerians”.
