The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has elected a new Chairman ahead of the October 10 governorship election in the state.

The former Vice Chairman of the party in Ondo State was on Tuesday elected as the new Chairman of the PDP in the State.

Adams in the electoral process polled 1,343 votes to defeat his co-contestant, Dennis Alonge-Niyi, who got 369 votes in the state Congress conducted in Akure, the state capital.

The state congress had over 2,000 delegates from the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.

However, the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, was absent at the congress of the party on Tuesday.

There had been reports linking the Deputy Governor to Zenith Labour Party with the aim of achieving his governorship ambition in the forthcoming election.

Recall that he dumped the APC for the PDP just a few months ago in search of a party ticket for the guber election.
