1. NCDC Reports 438 New Cases Of COVID-19

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has reported four hundred and thirty-eight confirmed new cases of Coronavirus pandemic in the country. The health agency on Saturday, 25 July at about 11:56 pm confirmed the new figures on its verified official account on the microblogging site, Twitter.

2. Imam Of Peace Demands Immediate Arrest Of President Buhari, See Why

A Muslim influencer and reformist Imam, Mohammad Tawhidi, popularly known as Imam of Peace, has called for the immediate arrest of Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari. Naija News reports that Imam of Peace made this call on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, where he listed several reasons the Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should be arrested.

3. Resident Doctors Threaten To Begin Fresh Strike

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has threatened to begin its suspended strike on Monday, August 17, 2020, if the Federal Government fails o address its demands. The President of NARD, Dr Aliyu Sokomba, made this known in Abuja on Saturday while reading to newsmen a communique issued after its virtual National Executive Council meeting and scientific conference held on July 20 and 25 2020.

4. FG Announces Date For Resumption Of Abuja-Kaduna Train Service

The federal government of Nigeria has announced that the Abuja-Kaduna rail transport service will resume on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. This was announced by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and amplified on Saturday in a Twitter post by Bashir Ahmad, the personal assistant on new media to President Muhammadu Buhari.

5. Crisis In Osogbo As Hausa Traders Clash With Hoodlums

A man simply identified as ‘Ikeja’ on Saturday morning reportedly led a group of hoodlums in a clash with some Hausa traders in Osogbo, the Osun state capital. Naija News reports that heavily armed policemen were seen moving towards the Sabo area of Osogbo, the state capital.

Reports of clashes among hoodlums, leading to the destruction of billboards, cars, and other valuables were reported in Edo State on Saturday as Governor Godwin Obaseki flagged off his re-election campaign. The launch of the Governor’s campaign held at the lawn tennis court of the refurbished Ogbe Stadium, Benin the state capital.
