Update: 2-Year-Old Girl Raped In Idumota, Her Brother Retrieved From Mother -NHRC

NHRC has seized two children of a single mother in Idumota, who blamed and beat-up her two-year-old child for been sexually violated by an adult in the neighbourhood.

Barely 24-hours after reports emerged that a toddler was raped by an adult in Lagos State, the National Human Right Commission, NHRC, has disclosed that the child and her sibling have been taken from their mother.

Naija News reported on Sunday, June 7 that a single mother in Idumota, a popular area in Lagos State beat-up her two-year-old child, blaming her for been sexually violated by an adult in the neighbourhood.

The executive secretary of the NHRC, Mr Tony Ojukwu who first reported the incident on his microblogging site, Twitter, noted the girl child was repeatedly raped by a man whose identity is yet to be revealed.

However, giving an update on the incident on Monday morning, Mr Tony disclosed again that the young girl and her brother have been retrieved from their mother following her reaction to the assault on her child.

He tweeted, “With the help of the courageous young lady who shot this video, we have gotten the babies; both the little girl and her brother. In trying to retrieve these children, we also found another child who was struck by thunder in the same community & was left to die.”
