COVID-19: Club Doctors Kick Against EPL Games Resumption

The quest for a convincing reason to resume the 2019/2020 English Premier League session has continued as the league’s shareholders are set to hold a crucial meeting on Monday.

However, reports reaching this online news platform reveals that at least four doctors of the Premier League club have shown disapproval of the game resumption at this time, Sky Sports reports.

The doctor’s reaction to the game resumption is coming after the Premier League shareholders presented its proposals to all 20 clubs a week ago, asking for feedback from the club’s medical experts.

In respect to the expected feedbacks, four doctors have been said to have sent in some questions, which will be attended to by the league’s shareholders in the next meeting coming up on Monday.

Naija News understands that the proposals include a plan to test players ability and status twice a week.

Testing will be paid for by the Premier League and privately sourced, so it does not take any resources from public health needs, Naija News learnt.

Meanwhile, the chairman of FIFA’s medical committee, Dr Michel D’Hooghe, has said a week ago that, “the world is not ready for competitive football. I hope this can change very quickly. Today you need more patience.”

In another development, RB Leipzig striker, Timo Werner, has been given a five-year contract deal by Liverpool which might keep him at Anfield until 2025, Naija News reports.
