COVID-19: Oyo State Senator Donates Cash, Sanitisers And Food Items

An Oyo State Senator, Soji Akanbi has in the name of a foundation he chaired gone out to health sector in the state to share relieve materials to individuals as the nation is currently battling with a global pandemic, Coronavirus (COVID-19).

However, the donation was just one of the philanthropist usual yearly gestures to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, Naija News understands.

According to Akanbi, the donations are not limited to the Coronavirus pandemic period, as his foundation, as usual, has been trying in reaching out to the public over the years.

He said: “We are not doing this just because of coronavirus, but as a foundation, we set up years ago and in my personal capacity, we try to meet various public needs from time to time.”

Naija News learnt that the senator had recently led a team from the Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi Foundation (RAAF), his foundation, to the UCH to make donations of large quantities of hand sanitizers, food items, which also was said to be extended to different markets in the Oyo State as support for the lockdown order in the state.

Meanwhile, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has presented a fresh demand from the Federal Government and Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN with the aid of freedom of information bill, Naija News report.

According to the SERAP Deputy Director, Mr. Kolawole Oluwadare, the organization, via its twitter handle the Federal Government must disclose information on the details of the implementation of the school feeding programme during the lockdown and closure of schools in several states.
