The Special Assistant on Digital Media to governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Muritala Adigun on Friday, March 27 was served with a letter of termination from office following an untrue report on social media that the state government has brought in some Coronavirus test kits.

Adigun’s information which was described as misleading has resulted in the termination of his appointment on Friday, Naija News understands.

The letter which has the signature of the Secretary to the State Government, Olubamiwo Adeosun, with reference number: SP/S.662/2/Vol1/115, was handed to Adigun on Friday as directed by the state governor.

Part of the letter read thus: “I wish to convey the approval of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, on the termination of your appointment as Special Assistant (Digital Media), with immediate effect.”

Naija News learned that Adigun had taken to social media, Facebook precisely on Thursday, March 26 to post a piece of false information about the Oyo State government procuring some COVID-19 test kits.

It was reported that Adigun posted on the internet some pictures of Coronavirus test kits claiming that it was procured by the Oyo State Government.

The move by Adigun, however, did not get down well with governor Makinde as he ordered his immediate relieve from office.

Meanwhile, according to an official with the state government, Adigun had earlier apologised for his publication, adding that his Facebook account was hacked by some elements belonging to the opposition party in order to discredit him.
