The management of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) has told the public to disregard rumours that the hospital was turning back patients who visited the facility to test for the coronavirus disease.

The hospital management made the clarification after some reports emerged online (not Naija News) that the hospital turned back a patient who had tested positive to the deadly disease.

In debunking the claims, LUTH said in a statement on its Twitter account that the general public should disregard the rumours as it is fake and just an imagination of some people’s fantasy.

It added that LUTH is not a centre for coronavirus treatment as all cases are referred to Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Yaba.

The hospital noted that; “although this story appears to be concocted, there is a need to put things in proper perspective.

“LUTH is presently not a treatment centre for COVID-19. The protocol demands that all confirmed cases are referred to Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Yaba.

“Long queue in LUTH waiting to be tested for Coronavirus is a figment of the imagination of the writer. There is no such thing happening in LUTH.

“We, therefore, appeal to the general public to disregard the story.

“We urge them to stay safe during this trying period and obey government directives on COVID-19 pandemic.”
