2023: Any Presidential Candidate Coming To Me Have Some Explanations To Make - Bishop Kukah

Following a statement by the Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, which pointed that President Muhammadu Buhari has brought nothing but nepotism in his administration, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has berated the statement made by the clergyman.

Naija News understands that Bishop Kuka had made the statement during the burial ceremony of a young seminarian of the catholic, Michael, who was killed by kidnappers along Kaduna road.

The clergyman noted while speaking that President Buhari has failed to act upon his promise to put to end the operation of the deadly group, Boko Haram.

Reacting to Bishop Kuka’s statement, the NSCIA has described the clergy’s comment as been misleading.

This was noted in a statement released on Tuesday by the Head, Media and Communications, NSCIA, Ibrahim Aselemi, who said that words coming out from religious leaders should be guided by cohesion.

“The comments by Rev Fr. Mathew Hassan Kukah, a leader we admire so much is very unfortunate. As religious leaders, our utterances should be guided by trio of national cohesion, security and love for our fatherland,” said Aselemi.

“The comments are misleading and carefully crafted to weaken the confidence of Nigerians on Buhari’s government. Are the duo of Emefiele and Obiora Muslims from the North? Yet, Buhari appointed them Governor and Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Rev Fr Kukah is being economical with the truth.”
