ASUU Quiet After Meeting With President Buhari in Aso Rock

Following an announcement on Thursday by Tolu Ogunlesi, Special Assistant on Digital/New Media as appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016, that the president is in a closed-door meeting with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Aso Rock, Abuja, the association have refused to make comment on the outcome of the meeting.

Tolu disclosed in a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, that the ASUU representatives led by its President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, meets with President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock. A meeting which was assumed to be for a resolution between the two bodies, following an order by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning to stop the payment of salaries of Federal Government workers, including members of ASUU, who failed to enrol on the IPPIS platform by Oct. 31, 2019.

Naija News understands that the directive for the deadline was later extended to Nov. 30, 2019.

The Presidential aide listed Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu and his Finance counterpart, Zainab Ahmed as part of the dignitaries in the meeting held in Aso Rock last Thursday.
