1. US Vs Iran: Shiites Protest Angrily, Burn US Flag In Abuja

Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shi’ites have today led a procession against the US government.

This followed the killing of Iran’s Military General, Qassem Soleimani, after US President Donald Trump ordered an airstrike last Friday.

2. Minimum Wage: 10 States Ready To Start Paying N30,000 – NLC

Negotiations have been concluded between 10 states and their workers on the need for adjustments and the implementation of the N30, 000 national minimum wage, the Nigeria Labour Congress has said.

The congress listed Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Lagos and Ebonyi as among the states which have concluded discussions on consequential adjustments.

3. Asset Declaration: SERAP Gives Buhari, Osinbajo And Governors 7 Days Ultimatum

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has given President Muhammadu Buhari, his Vice, Osinbajo and 35 state governors a seven days ultimatum to reveal details of thier assets publicly.

Naija News recalls that the human rights organization had earlier gotten a court permit to request for information on the summary of the assets, specifically property and income as contained in their asset declaration forms submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

4. Supreme Court Picks Date To Deliver Final Ruling On Suit Seeking To Sack Ikpeazu As Abia Governor

Wednesday, the 8th of January 2020 has been fixed by the Supreme Court to deliver its final judgement arising from the dispute on the Abia State governorship election.

The judgement is as regarding an appeal filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Alex Otti, challenging the victory of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in the 2019 Abia state governorship election.

5. Zamfara State Government Speaks On The Planned Withdrawal Of Troops From The State

The Federal Government has been charged by the Zamfara State government to review its plan to withdraw troops in some states affected by terrorist attacks.

The Commissioner in charge of security and home affairs in the state, Abubakar Dauran, while speaking with journalists stated that the withdrawal of the troops would affect the security structure in the state.

7. Discos Reveal Date To Begin Electricity Tariff Increase

Electricity distribution companies of Nigeria on Monday announced that enforcement for the new electricity tariffs will begin on April 1st.

Discos made this known in a tariff review clarification notice through the spokesperson of their umbrella body, Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED), Sunday Oduntan.

8. Boko Haram: Presidency Calls For Calm As Chadian Troops Withdraw From Lake Chad

The Presidency has urged Nigerians not to panic over the withdrawal of Chadian troops from the Lake Chad region.

Naija News reports that 1200 Chadian troops deployed to the North-east to tackle Boko Haram terrorists alongside Nigerian troops withdrew on Friday.

9. I Have Not Received Any Official Letter On My Suspension – Obono-Obla

The former chairman of the now-disbanded Special Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP), Okoi Obono-Obla has accused the federal government of sentencing him to a media trial.

Obono-Obla, noted that he is yet to receive any official notification or communication on his suspension from office.

10. NPFL: Enyimba Fire Head Coach Abd’allah

Defending champions of the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), Enyimba, on Monday announced the sacking of its head coach, Usman Abdallah.
