Following the arrest of former Senator and Lawmaker, Shehu Sani, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has been accused of meeting the lawmaker who represents Kaduna North-Central in the 8th National Assembly.

Justice Tanko has, however, debunked the rumour noting that he has never met with the former lawmaker, either directly or remotely.

Naija News had earlier reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Sen. Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly in the 8th National Assembly for alleged extortion of $20,000 from the owner of ASD Motors.

Shehu Sani who is currently being held by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will be in custody of the commission for 14 days, following the petition filed against the senator by Dauda, who revealed that Sani had claimed to know the Acting Chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Magu, and had collected money from the businessman in order to facilitate a meeting between Dauda and Magu.

“I have never had any form of encounter or interaction, either directly or remotely with Shehu Sani, let alone giving him assurances of what is not only unethical but equally despicable and inglorious, to say the least,” Said CJN Tanko.

“Let it be known that if the statement credited to Shehu Sani was actually made by him, it is simply a lie,” he added.
