Breaking: EFCC Parades Okorocha To Court

The Appeal Court sitting in Owerri, the Imo State capital, has affirmed the election of Senator Rochas Okorocha (APC-Imo West).

The lead judge, R.A Ada, who read the judgment pointed out that the appeals filed by Senator Osita Izunaso of the All Progressives Grand Alliance and Jones Onyereri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against Okorocha lacked merit.

Izunaso and Onyereri had challenged the election of Okorocha who contested the February 23 election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reading the judgement, Justice Ada ruled that the judgement of the Election Petitions Tribunal which upheld Senator Okorocha’s election was in order.

According to the judge, the petitioners did not prove their allegations of over-voting, mutilation of electoral results, violence, and the hijacking of electoral officers.

The Appeal court also stated that the petitioners failed to prove that returning officers were made to declare results under duress.
