WAEC To Hold NEC Meeting, To Decide On Withheld Results Today

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has announced the commencement of registration for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, for private candidates’ 2020 First Series.

In 2018, WASSCE had introduced the First Series so as to give private candidates a second option to take the August/September examination which is called Second Series.

It was however later announced in a statement by WAEC’s Head of National Office, Olu Adenipeku that the 2020 first series for private candidates would only contain 24 subjects and take place only in urban areas.

He further asked aspiring candidates to check for available subjects and centres before registering.

He noted that the deadline for the registration is December 31, 2019 adding that the examination would hold between January and February 2020.

The statement reads: “WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2020 – First Series would mainly be an urban-based examination. Twenty-four (24) subjects would be available for the examination. Intending candidates are advised to visit the Council’s corporate website – www.waecnigeria.org – to confirm available examination towns and subjects before obtaining the registration PIN.
