Catholic Priest Escapes Abduction In Abia

How Army Tried To Broker Peace Deal Between Gunmen And Plateau Residents

A Catholic Priest serving in Abia State, but whose name is yet-to-be ascertained on Wednesday escaped from gunmen suspected to be kidnappers who abducted him.

Naija News gathered that the Catholic Priest was trailed and kidnapped by the gunmen near his Parish.

The Rev. Father who escaped being kidnapped was reported to have hit the road with the aim of performing the early morning mass at the parish in one of the villages in Osisioma Local Government Area of the state, about 15mins drive from the heart of the commercial city of Aba, but never knew that he was being trailed.

Sources within the parish disclosed that two male mass servants that were with the Priest were pushed away from the car by the gunmen who drove him away to an unknown destination.

The Priest had attempted to jump out of the car in which the kidnappers were transporting him, but had a change of mind as he realised that the car was on the highway.

However, the kidnappers decided to eject the Catholic Priest from the car as his restlessness was already attracting the attention of others.

The victim’s car was later recovered by policemen from Osisioma Police Division from where the gunmen abandoned it, although efforts made to get the twist of the Police on the matter proved abortive.
