1. President Buhari Sends Ministerial List To Nigerian Senate

President Muhammadu Buhari after about 50 days in office for a second term, has finally sent his list of ministerial nominees to the Senate.

Naija News recalls that the Senate had earlier given President Muhammadu Buhari till Friday to submit the list of ministerial nominees for screening, failure of which the red chamber will proceed on its two-month annual recess.

2. El-Zakzaky: House Of Reps In Rowdy Session Over Shiites Leader

The House of Representatives turned rowdy on Tuesday after a motion was moved by a house member calling for the release of Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shiites.

Not less than 12 persons were reported dead after the movement protested in Abuja, on Tuesday, a reporter of Channels Tv was killed during the protest.

3. Senate Suspends Annual Vacation To Screen Buhari’s Cabinet Nominees

The Nigeria Senate on Tuesday has postponed its annual recess scheduled to begin on Friday to screen individuals President Muhammadu Buhari nominated for ministerial positions.

4. CBN Retains Interest Rate At 13.50%

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has retained the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) at 13.50%.

The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, made this known on Tuesday while addressing journalists at the end of the two-day meeting of the monetary policy committee of the bank.

5. Shiites: Why We Have Not Obeyed Court Order On El-Zakzaky’s Release – Presidency

The Presidency has again justified its decision to keep Shiite leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky in custody despite the court order to release him.

Mr. Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, said on Tuesday that so far, the government has refused to obey Justice Gabriel Kolawole’s order on the release of El-Zakzakky because it appealed the ruling.

6. Nabena Reveals How Disagreement Between Oshiomhole, Oyegun Can Affect APC

The Deputy spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, Yekini Nabena, has called for an end to the fight between the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole and his predecessor, John Odigie-Oyegun.

Nabena stated that the rift between the duo has the capacity of affecting the party in forthcoming elections.
