AFCON: See Four Teams That May Qualify For Semi-Final

The quarter-final at the Africa Cup of Nations will commence on Wednesday across stadiums in Egypt. Recall that the host country was eliminated out of the tournament by the South Africa national team.

After Thursday, there will be only four teams left to battle for the trophy.

1. Senegal vs Benin: The Squirrels have done exceedingly well to get to this stage of the competition, but the fairytale ends here. Senegal, powered by Sadio Mane, will have enough to take the Terranga Lions through to the semi-finals.

2. Nigeria vs South Africa: A meeting of familiar foes, not only is a place in the last four at stake, bragging rights will be claimed at the end of 90 minutes, or 120 minutes perhaps. At the end, the Super Eagles should have seen off the Bafana Bafana.

3. Ivory Coast vs Algeria: This, for me, is the fixture of the round. Two African powerhouses going at each other for supremacy. However, it is hard to look beyond Algeria. They have won all their games so far, playing some slick, intense football.

4. Madagascar vs Tunisia: The North Africans have gotten this far by sheer experience. Their Round of 16 clashes against Ghana made for compelling TV. And it is that experience, that will see them send debutants Madagascar packing.
