Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shiites on Friday set ablaze the national flags of the US and Israel.
The protesters burnt the national flags of the countries during a protest in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Naija News reports that the protesters had converged at the Wuse market junction where the protest began. The protesters that included elderly men, described both countries as enemies and oppressors of the people of Palestine.
Secretary of the academic forum of the movement, Abdullahi Musa, said the flags were burnt to show their anger against the countries over their “oppressive tendency” against Palestine.
The flags were displayed to the crowd with the caricature of President Donald Trump before some members of the group sprayed fuel on them.
The protest was organised to drive home the demand towards the release of El-Zakyzaky to enable him seek medical attention.
The determined group of protesters vowed to continue with the protest irrespective of the “intimidation” by the security agents.
