Woman Stabs Man To Death For Allegedly Trying To Rape Her

The police have arrested a woman identified as Gift Daniel for allegedly stabbing a cleric, Taofeek Olumoro to death for reportedly trying to rape her.

According to Punch, the 25-year-old Daniel had gone on a visit to her boyfriend’s residence at No. 3 Bajulaiye Street, Fadeyi, Lagos but did not meet him.

The 52-year-old deceased who is known as Alfa was a neighbour to the suspect’s boyfriend and had invited her into his room to wait for the boyfriend.

According to a further report, Olumoro who tried to rape Daniel got stabbed in the thigh and Daniel in self-defence got the knife and stabbed the deceased five times, which led to his death.

Daniel’s was subsequently arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos and charged with one count of murder.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Oladele Adebayo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 16, 2019, around 10 pm, using a kitchen knife.

“The defendant was lured into the deceased’s room, where he tried to forcefully have sexual intercourse with her, and in her defence, she stabbed him fatally in the chest,” the prosecutor stated.

He said the offence contravened Section 222 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State and carried a death sentence for the convict.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs A. Kusanu, said the case file should be duplicated and forwarded to the office of the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

Kasanu, however, ordered that the suspect should be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till March 27, 2019, for the DPP’s advice.
