Nigeria Police attached to the former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, has allegedly shot a man during the weekend at Amafia Iheochiwa in Arochukwu Local Government Area of the State.
According to an eyewitness, the victim who was identified as Ogbonnaya Eke, was in a critical condition at the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia.
The eyewitness, who stated his name as Abraham, said, “The APC campaign train stopped over at Amafia Ihechiowa to address the locals. As Orji Kalu was addressing the people and making campaign promises, the youths question what he did to the people of Ihechiowa as Abia Governor of Abia North Extraction for eight years.
“One of the youth said you promise to deliver the Ihechiowa rig road and failed. We can not trust a man who was Governor for eight years and did nothing. At that point, the youths started booing him.
“The police officers attached to the campaign train started shooting randomly. A middle-aged man was hit and was immediately rushed to FMC Umuahia. He is in critical condition”.
The Media Adviser to the former Abia state Governor, Maduka Okoro, while speaking with Daily Post said, “We did not shoot anybody to dead as being reported by online media platforms.
“I want to tell you that due to the benevolence of Orji Kalu, he visited the young man at the Federal Medical Centre(FMC) on Saturday to see the man and how he (victim) is recuperating.
“So, none of the police officers attached to His Excellency, Orji Kalu shot anybody dead. I know the opposition want to politicize it”.
