More On Ekiti Fatal Accident
Ten people have been confirmed dead, while four are currently in the hospital after the truck accident that occurred in Iworoko Ekiti on Saturday evening.
Recall that Naija News earlier reported that a trailer which was carrying bags of rice, lost its break as it was coming from the Ifaki area of the state, killing people injuring many and displacing others.
Eyewitness accounts by some residents around the scene of the accident believe that the driver of the ill fated vehicle is either new on that road or lost control at the sharp bend where he entered the market.
Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Bisi Egbeyemi, who visited the scene of the accident and was at the palace of the community to commiserate with the bereaved families, agreed with some elders of the community that something should be done about the location of the market.
Egbeyemi also visited the Teaching Hospital in the state capital where those injured are receiving treatment.
The whereabouts of the driver and other occupants of the vehicle is yet unknown.
It was also deduced from the branding on the bags of rice loaded on the vehicle when it crashed, that it was probably coming from Kebbi State and its destination is Ondo State.
