Ahead of the fast approaching 2019 elections, the European Center for Electoral Support, ECES, today, commenced a capacity building workshop for officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The workshop which was on election monitoring for the Northwest geopolitical zone aims at familiarizing officials of the commission with the structure and operational frameworks required for proper conduct of elections.

Project coordinator of the center, Mr. Rudolf Elbing, said ECES is proud to support the initiative which seeks to ensure a seamless logistical and operational deployment plan that will further the objective of delivering a free and fair election come 2019.

He said the ECES is delighted that INEC has taken a giant stride in the integration of the election management systems, risk management and electoral operations support center.

“It is my hope that the conduct of the EMSC zonal implementers workshop will provide participants the requisite knowledge and as well sensitise them on their expected roles before, during and after elections thereby laying a solid foundation in this journey towards the conduct of the elections in 2019,” he said.

Earlier, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kaduna State, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu kaugama, in his welcome address, thanked INEC for choosing Kaduna for the workshop.
