1. Omisore join forces with APC for Osun governorship re-run

Iyiola Omisore, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has decided to partner with the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Osun state governorship rerun election.

This partnership may mean a setback for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who have been waiting on the support of Omisore to win the election on Thursday.

2. Police arrest and parade suspect who threatened to rape Atiku’s wife and daughters

The Nigerian Police today paraded a suspect, Augustus Akpan, 43 years who threatened to kidnap, rape and kill wife, daughters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar if he does not withdraw from Presidential Race.

The Force Spokesman, DCP Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.

3. NLC begins nation wide strike over minimum wage

The organized labour in Nigeria has declared a nation wide warning strike in protest of alleged government delay in the implementation of the new national minimum wage.

A total strike has been declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) after its meeting with the federal government delegation led by Chris Ngige, minister of labour, yielded no result.

4. Ambode declares readiness to face APC governorship primary election

Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the governor of Lagos State has stated that he is ready for the contest in Saturday’s primary election where members of the All Progressives Congress across the State are expected to choose the party’s flag bearer through direct primaries.

The governor declared his readiness in a statement through the Lagos State Commissioner of Information, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan.

5. Court orders police to release arrested PDP chieftain in Osun state

An Osogbo High Court has ordered the police to release a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Alhaji Fatai Oyedele, popularly known as Diekola and two others from detention.

The order was given by Justice A.O Ayoola on Wednesday following an application filed on his behalf by his lawyers.

6. FG re-arraigns ex-Benue governor, Suswan over N9.7b fraud

The Federal High Court in Abuja today has fixed November 20 for the re-arraignment of former Benue State governor, Gabriel Suswam, and two of his commissioners for allegedly diverting N9.7 billion, into a private account.

Justice I.E. Ekwo fixed the date earlier today when the matter was brought before him for the first time.

7. Federal, State and Local governments share N741.84b in August

Federal, states and local governments on Wednesday shared N741.84 billion as revenue generated in August.

The figure indicated a N27.04 billion increase when compared to the N714.84 that was shared in July.

8. US first lady, Melania Trump to visit Africa

Arrangement is being concluded for the first solo trip abroad of the United States First Lady Melania Trump to Africa.

She will be visiting Ghana, Malawi, Kenya and Egypt next month.

9. ASUU may join NLC nationwide strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has hinted that it may join the Nigeria Labour Congress in the ongoing strike action.

Prof Uzo Onyebinama, the Owerri Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, made this known at a press conference Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.

10. Nigeria’s D’Tigress qualify for quarter finals

Nigeria’s senior female basket ball team have made history by defeating their Greek counterparts to qualify for the quarter final stage of the FIBA world cup.

The Nigerian team edged Greece 57-56 in a keenly contested game on Wednesday.
