Luka Modric was the winner of The Best prize, the FIFA award for the best player in the world. The Croatian midfielder collected 29 percent of the vote, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo (19 percent) and Salah (11 percent).

At the end of the gala that took place in London, the Croatian international spoke about the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I won the prize but Mohamed (Salah) and Cristiano (Ronaldo) are great players,” said Modric, who was quoted by AS. “He is my friend, I was not upset by his absence.

The Croatian midfielder also made a curious revelation. “It’s worse than scoring a penultimate,” he said, “my legs are shaking more here than they were on the field, I had nothing prepared, I had a few things in my head and it came out.
