The American team of English David Beckham will be called Inter Miami and plans to join the Football League (MLS) in 2020.

“Miami International Soccer Club is a name that celebrates the incredible energy of one of the most exciting cities in the world – for its diversity, passion and ambition – a city that has welcomed me and so many others so warmly”, reads said in the statement of the former British footballer.

Beckham promises the club to be “a home for everyone” from 2020, although it is not yet clear which venue to use.

By the end of the year, a local referendum is expected to approve the construction of a stadium with a capacity of 25,000 spectators on a municipal site currently occupied by a golf course.
