1. Nigeria’s problem is more than restructuring – Osinbajo

Restructuring is not the solution to the problem of Nigeria as being suggested in many quarters, the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says.

The Vice President gave this opinion through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande in a statement, while he was answering questions from Nigerians at a town hall meeting in Minnesota, the United States of America, on Sunday.

2. National Assembly approves N143b INEC budget for 2019 elections

The National Assembly joint committee on electoral matters has adopted and approved the sum of N143 billion as INEC fund for 2019 election.

After rounds of defence and several meetings between the Independent National Electoral Commision, led by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and the legislators, the sum of N143b was approved.

3. Lagos PDP chairman, Salvador defects to APC

The Lagos State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Moshood Salvador, has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress(APC).

Salvador said he took the decision because all his efforts to move the PDP in the state forward had been frustrated by some elements in the party.

4. Leah Sharibu cries out for help from Boko Haram captivity

The kidnapped Leah Sharibu, has spoken out from Boko Haram captivity, pleading with President Muhammadu Buhari to save her from her abductors.

Sharibu is the only Christian among the abducted 119 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe state, and her captors refused to release her for refusing to denounce her christian faith.

5. Presidency releases list of on-going projects in the south-east

The Federal Government has released the list of the 69 ongoing road and bridge projects in the South-east.

In a statement in Abuja on Monday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said though the contracts for many of the roads were awarded before the advent of this Administration, they were either poorly funded or not funded at all, hence work on the roads has lingered.

6. INEC to re-design polling booths to stop vote buying

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured that it would redesign the structures of all polling units to curb vote buying during the 2019 general election.

Mr Mustapha Lecky, the South South Commissioner, made the disclosure in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo, on Monday.

7. Presidency says DSS is analyzing the Leah Sharibu audio

Senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu has said that an audio recording allegedly of Leah Sharibu is being analysed by the Department of State Services (DSS).

This he said when responding to newsmen report on how Leah who is in custody of the Boko Haram insurgents appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari.

8. Theresa May to visit Nigeria on Wednesday

Theresa May, British Prime Minister is set to visit three African countries, including Nigeria this week.

May who will arrive Nigeria on Wednesday is billed to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja and also spend time in Lagos, where she is expected to visit victims of modern slavery.

9. EFCC investigates N117b money laundering case against Rivers government

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is probing Rivers state finance for suspicious transactions worth N117b by the government in the last three years.

The large fund was intermittently withdrawn over the counter by a state official designated for the purpose, the anti graft agency disclosed.

10. I regret supporting Buhari – Kwankwaso

A People’s Democratic Party presidential aspirant and former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has stated that he and others who left the PDP in 2014 to support President Muhammadu Buhari against Former President Goodluck Jonathan are currently grappling with the regret of their actions.

Kwankwaso, who described the economic policy of the President as counterproductive, was in Owerri, the Imo state capital on a consultation visit to PDP members.
