1. President Buhari praises Nigerians with integrity

President Muhammadu Buhari wants Nigerians to emulate two private security men who returned a handbag filled with valuables and foreign currency forgotten at the Murtala Muhammed Airport by an American returnee, saying such conduct reflects the new Nigeria that we all desire.

In the process of loading their luggage into the car of their host, the handbag of the returnee’s wife fell, unknown to anyone, but was found and returned by the security men.

2. Angry youths set Imo magistrate court on fire

The Magistrates’ Court in Olru, Imo State was reportedly set on fire by irate youths.

Some documents in the court, located within the premises of the Orlu high court, were destroyed by fire before it was put out.

3. Police say Akpabio’s residence wasn’t attacked

The police in Akwa Ibom state said there was no attack on the country home of a senator, Godswill Akpabio, as claimed by the senator’s aide.

Akpabio’s media aide, Anietie Ekong, said earlier that some unknown gunmen stormed the senator’s home in Ukana Ikot Ntuen, Essien Udim, Akwa Ibom state, around 7.30 p.m on Tuesday, and were shooting sporadically in front of the gate before they were repelled by police officers and other security personnel attached to the senator.

4. PDP will win 2019 presidential election – Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki has said that the Peoples Democratic Party will win the 2019 presidential elections in the country.

Saraki boasted that the PDP would win at both federal and state levels and the victory would be beneficial to all the members.

5. Miyetti Allah denies Garus Gololo over statement on removal of Saraki as senate president

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria has dissociated itself from an interview granted by Garus Gololo in which he stated the group would force out Dr. Bukola Saraki should he decide not to resign as Senate President.

Reacting to Gololo’s interview, National Secretary of Miyetti Allah, Baba Uthman Ngelzarma says Gololo acted and spoke in his personal capacity and not on behalf of the group.

6. Buhari administration is always focused on what’s good for the common man – Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during a townhall meeting in Bariga/Somolu LCDA in Lagos State said the President Muhammadu Buhari administration will continue to focus on the common man.

While Osinbajo celebrated Sallah with Lagosians, he said the administration is taking Nigerians out of poverty through social investment programmes.

7. Notherners would not allow you take over from Buhari in 2023 – Adebanjo tells Tinubu

Chief Ayo Adebanjo, a chieftain of Afenifere, has stated that it will be a day dream for the All Progressives Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to think that the North will allow him succeed Buhari come 2023.

He used the opportunity to call on the people of the South-West not to be fooled by Tinubu for the second time.

8. PDP calls on Buhari to arrest Miyetti Allah leader over statement on Saraki’s removal

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to order the arrest of the National Coordinator of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Benue State, Alhaji Garus Gololo.

The call for the arrest of the Miyetti Allah’s leader was instigated by his call for the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki to resign his position or be forced to do so.

9. Ngige accuses state governors of delaying new minimum wage

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has indicated that work on the new wage structure may take longer than expected as most critical groups in the process, are yet to submit their proposal on a new wage system.

The minister revealed, while having a chat with reporter in Anambra State, that there will be no agreement without the proposal of the state governments.

10. OAU suspends six students over cultism

Six students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, on Wednesday, have been suspended by the school management for alleged involvement in cultism.

According to a release by Mrs Magaret Omosule, the university Registrar, the students were stated to have confirmed to belong to a secret cult while been investigated by police.
