Four Killed In Gunmen Attack On Zamfara Mosque

At least four people have been reported killed by unknown gunmen who attacked a mosque at Kawddi village, Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state.

The attack, which occurred around 8pm on Tuesday, also left up to eight people injured.

Muhammad Shehu, spokesman of the state police command, who was quoted by The Cable, confirmed the incident, further disclosing that the gunmen invaded the village in large numbers and started shooting sporadically.

Kwaddi village is a village which shares boundary with Niger Republic and also situated in a thick forest, surrounded by rocks.

According to the police, such difficult terrain made it difficult for security operatives to respond swiftly to any distress call.

Shehu however confirmed security operatives have been deployed in the village to prevent further attacks and restore calm to the area.

Naija News recalls that less than a week ago, the Zamfara State Police Command also confirmed the death of two persons after unknown gunmen attacked a market in Karakai village in the Bungudu Local Government Area of the state.
