Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom yesterday, raised a new alarm over the invasion of over one million cattle into the state by herdsmen after the military launched Exercise Ayem A’ Kpatuma to check herdsmen killings in the state.

The governor said this yesterday at the mass funeral site of the 73 victims of herdsmen attack on New Year day in Makurdi when he took Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Pastor Dr. Paul Enenche to the cemetery.

He called on the military to handle the situation and avert further crisis from the invaders so that the over 160,000 displaced persons who were in the eight camps created for the displaced persons in the state could return to their homes.

He lamented that more than 60 people have been killed since the mass burial.

Ortom said, “More than 60 people have been killed since the mass burial, with three of the victims killed last week in Guma Local Government Area by herdsmen.”

Pastor Enenche said the burial indicated the internment of goverment and security failure, impunity and all forms of evil in the country.

He therefore, prayed for the repose of the souls of the dead and for God’s judgment on the killers and their sponsors.
