1. President Buhari hosts principal officers of the Nigerian Senate over Benue killings

Principal officers of the Senate, have met with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss their resolution concerning the killings in Benue and other parts of the country.

Earlier, both chambers of the national assembly had called on the federal government to take decisive action against those behind the killings.

2. Don’t allow 2019 campaigns affect governance, Saraki warns politicians

Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, has urged members of the National Assembly, the executive and politicians to focus on governance in 2018 and not on campaigns towards the 2019 general elections.

He stated this in his welcome speech to senators upon resumption from the 2017 recess.

3. Government demolishes Patience Jonathan’s house in Abuja

The Development Control Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, on Tuesday demolished a property allegedly belonging to the wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience.

The FCT stated that the building, which was located along the Mabushi-Life Camp Expressway, was pulled down because it had no official approval.

4. Reps to probe $44m missing NIA fund

The house of representatives, upon resumption of plenary yesterday, have launched plans to investigate the alleged disappearance of $44m from the National Intelligence Agency (NIA)

The planned probe was sequel to the consideration and adoption of a motion under matters of urgent public importance titled “Need to investigate the alleged carting away of $44 million from NIA and the issues surrounding the appointment of its new DG”, sponsored by Hon. Diri Duonye (Bayelsa State).

5. Senate issues 14-day ultimatum for IG to arrest perpetrators of Benue killings

The Senate Tuesday issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Inspector General of Police (IG), Mr. Ibrahim Idris, to apprehend the perpetrators of the recent killings in Logo and Guma Local Government Areas of Benue State which resulted in the death of not less than 73 persons, and hand them over to the attorney general of the state for prosecution.

6. EFCC drills former Plateau state governor, Jang

Former Governor of Plateau State and current senator representing Plateau North senatorial district in the National Assembly, Jonah Jang, was on Tuesday quizzed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged financial misappropriations during his tenure as governor of the state.

7. Nigeria is running a military democracy – Akande

A former Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has described Nigeria’s democracy as a military democracy of sharing which is proving to be too costly and unsustainable.

He made the remarks during a press briefing in his country home, Ila, Osun state as part of activities to mark his 79th birthday.

8. EFCC denies attempt to arrest Abba Kyari

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has denied making attempt to arrest President Muhammdu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

This is according to a statement released by the anti-graft agency’s acting head of media and publicity, Samie Amaddin.

9. Police in Lagos arrest Alfa with human parts

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested an acclaimed Islamic cleric, Abdulfatai Kayode, with suspected human parts on Okedumola Street, Alakuko area of the state.

Female private parts, a kidney, intestines, a heart, lap, among other human parts, were allegedly found in his apartment.

10. Ronaldinho retires from football

Brazillian star, Ronaldinho has officially retired from playing football.

The 37 year old last played competitive football in 2015 but his brother has now confirmed that the former World cup winner will now hang his boots.
