Benue Kiliings: More Mobile Police Men Deployed To Benue

Joshak Habila, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of Operations, has given assurances that peace and order would soon be restored in Benue state and other troubled areas following the clashes between farmers and herdsmen.

Daily Sun reports Habila gave the assurances on Friday while deploying more mobile policemen to some troubled areas of Benue state.

He urged the policemen to focus on the discharge of their duties and be good ambassadors of the Police Force.

“Don’t drink where they drink and don’t smoke where they smoke. If there are challenges, the helicopter will come to your rescue. Don’t go after their wives. Their children must also be protected. Don’t go and chase the villagers away,” Habila warned.

Habila who disclosed that 10 units of Tactical Mobile Police Force, a unit of counter terrorism, intelligence platform unit, as well as monitoring and investigative unit, were already on ground in Benue, promised that the police would work in collaboration with all other security organizations.

“we are going to be operating with no boundary as we will be seen in Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, and possibly Kogi if need be.”

Recall President Muhammadu Buhari had on Monday night, ordered the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to relocate to Benue state in order to combat the killings arising from the clash between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in the state.
