Police rescue monarch from abduction.

The police in Rivers State have rescued Eze G.A. Omodu, the Paramount Ruler of Mgbuolua in Rundele Community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Naija News gathered that Omodu was abducted on Tuesday morning around 2:30am, few hours after Christmas celebration and regained freedom 12 hours after abduction.

A community source, Alex Igbeni, said that the victim’s car was later recovered between Rumuji and Ndele axis of the East-West Road.

Irked by the abduction, Igbani said the youths of the area had mobilised a search party to look for their paramount ruler.

He said, “Around 2:30am today (Tuesday), unknown gunmen invaded the house of the paramount ruler of Mgbuolua, who just travelled home with his family yesterday for Christmas and kidnapped him and also made away with his car.

“But his car was found at the boundary between Ndele and Rumuji communities on the East-West Road. We believe that the kidnappers took him through the bush there. We want security operatives to help us.”

It was learnt that the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Police Command swung into action and searched for the monarch in the bush. However, the kidnappers fled after sensing the presence of the security operatives and released their victim to avoid being arrested.

The Public Relations Officer in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, said they immediately went in search for the monarch after report of his abduction reached them.

He said the kidnappers allowed their victim to go after they noticed that security operatives were getting close to them inside the bush.
