Ambode approves demolition of Yaba, Costain bridges

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has on Wednesday approved the demolition of the Yaba and Costain bridges to enable the smooth running of the ongoing construction of the Lagos-Ibadan railway line, by the Federal Government.

Confirming that he had inspected the two bridges with the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Monday, Ambode stated that he had approved the demolition of the bridges to create room for the standard gauge.

Ambode made the approval of the demolition known in his office while playing receiving captains of industries who had come for the 11th town hall meeting and 10th year anniversary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF).

The Governor said he had refused to approve the demolition before now, because the extent of the project and its impact on the bridges were not disclosed.
