Jilted lover kills 5 people with poisoned ‘Amala’

-Okada operator arrested for killing at least 5 people through food poisoning.

-The action is said to be vengeance for been jilted by his lover.

Friend connives with jilted lover to murder ex-lover and family members.

A middle-aged man simply identified as Razaq has been arrested for allegedly poisoning a meal of yam flour (Amala) which led to the death of no fewer than five people in Obokun Local Government area of Osun State.

The victims, included his former girlfriend, Esther Fasanya and her mother, Kehinde.

Rasaq, a commercial motorcycle operator, popularly known as ‘fine boy’, was said to be dating Esther, but things got sour between them and Esther suddenly decided to quit the relationship – a decision that didn’t go down well with Rasaq.

He therefore in his anger, connived with one of Esther’s friends to poison the food which was meant for Esther’s whole family.

Esther and her mother who was a staff of Obokun Local Government reportedly died instantly after eating the poisoned food.

Others were rushed to the hospital, but efforts to save their lives was not successful as three of the four persons that were taken to Wesley Guild Hospital in Ilesa eventually died.

The Osun State Commissioner of Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu confirmed the death of additional two persons out of the four persons taken to the hospital in Ilesa but said he didn’t have current information on the state of health of others.

Confirming Razaq’s arrest to newsmen, the Commissioner of Police in the State, Fimihan Adeoye, said: “Rasaq has been arrested. He is being interrogated. I want to assure the public that the matter would be diligently investigated.”
