Gani Adams is no more the leader of OPC.

Leaders of two factional groups within the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), announced on Monday that Otunba Gani Adams has ceased to be the leader of OPC, following his new title as the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland conferred on him by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi 111.

According to a statement released by Comrade Rasak Arogundade of New Era OPC and Comrade Dare Adesope of Reformed OPC, on Monday, “the position has retired Gani Adams as OPC leader.”

“In as much as we have our reservations with the choice of Adams as the new Aare Ona Kakanfo, we have no doubt in the wisdom of our father, the Alaafin of Oyo.

“We believe it is in the best interest of Yoruba race that Gani Adams, who had hitherto being a cog in the wheel of unity in the OPC has been compensated with the title of Aare to pave way for one OPC.

“The era Fasheun OPC or Gani Adams OPC has gone forever with the new chapter that has just been opened in the history of the group,” the statement stated.
