Garba Durbunde, a member of house of representatives, who was kidnapped along the Abuja-Kaduna highway, has been freed.

His release was confirmed by Tunde Adela, an aide of the lawmaker.

Meanwhile another source claims that  the legislator representing Takai/Sumaila federal constituency of Kano state at the lower legislative chamber was released after an undisclosed ransom was paid.

Durbunde was said to have been abducted while returning to the nation’s capital after a trip to Kano.

Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of the state, had condemned the abduction and called on security agencies to secure his release.

Durbunde served as a commissioner in the administration of Rabiu Kwakwanso, former governor of Kano who is now a senator.
