I Don't Regret Being Part Of G5 Governors - Ikpeazu

The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has ordered the immediate sack of all political appointees in the state.

This was made known in a statement on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Chris Ezem.

Naija News understands those affected include Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, Special Advisers, and Technical Officers.

While thanking them for their contributions and services to the state, Governor Ikpeazu further directed the State Accountant General to ensure immediate payment of March 2023 stipends to all the affected appointees.

The sack comes a few days after Governor Ikpeazu lost his bid to move to the Senate. He also failed to install his preferred candidate as the next Governor of the state.

Labour Party Wins Abia Guber Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last Wednesday, declared Alex Otti of the Labour Party (LP) as the winner of the Abia State governorship election.

Naija News reports that Otti polled 175,467 votes to defeat Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 88,529 votes.

Alex Otti with the victory, emerged as the 4th democratically elected of the State and the first candidate to be governor from a political party that’s not the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since 1999.
