Nigerian Grammy award-winning singer, Ayo Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid has replied to Nigerian rappers, frowning over his controversial statement on rap music.

Naija News earlier reported that Wizkid in an interview with 10 Magazine said he doesn’t listen to rap music because it’s dead and boring.

Wizkid claimed that Afrobeats is the new pop, stressing he has sold two million copies of one of his songs in America.

According to the singer, listening to rap is tiring because the artists often make repetition of beats and flows.

Reacting to the statement, Nigerian rappers such as Blaqbonez, Oladips, MI Abaga, and many others expressed displeasure over the statement.

Wizkid Reacts

Taking to his Snapchat, Wizkid described Oladips and others who are criticizing him over the ‘rap is dead’ comment’ as broke boys.

According to the ‘Ojulegba’ crooner, he was not talking about other upcoming rappers because they aren’t even rappers.

He further stated that Nasty C, Sarkodie, and Black Sheriff are the only rappers in Africa.

Still making a mockery of Nigerian rappers, the singer advised them to keep sending their rap videos, as he would be watching and might probably consider helping them.

He wrote: “Can’t believe broke boys really thought Big Wiz will talk abt y’all wow! Y’all not even rappers! Nasty C/Sarkodie/Black Sheriff the only rappers in Africa. Y’all dick fucks

Y’all keep sending una poppy rap videos! I go dey watch maybe I fit help una mama life!”.
