The PUNCH: The Federal Government has invited pro-chancellors, vice-chancellors and chairmen of governing councils of federal universities to a meeting in Abuja on September 6 as part of efforts to resolve the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The Guardian: Nigeria’s bid to float a new national carrier appears to have entered the wrong time zone, with credible investors and technical partners allegedly reluctant to warm up to the high-end venture. Vanguard: Uneasy calm seems to be pervading the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following what party leaders described as mixed signals emanating from Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike, over the crisis in the party.

The Nation: The Federal Government on Tuesday said it has done much for the education sector, especially, to the universities, which should enable the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) reconsider its position on industrial strike. Minister of State for Education, Goodluck Opiah, said this in a presentation to the Senate Committee (Tertiary Institutions and TETfund) during an oversight visit to the Federal Ministry of Education on Tuesday in Abuja.

Daily Trust: The Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Malam Mele Kyari, has said the importation of refined crude oil products to Nigeria will stop when Dangote Oil Refineries and Petrochemicals project comes on stream latest by the middle of next year.
