Police Arrest Amotekun Corps Member For Allegedly Shooting An Officer In Oyo

A member of the South-West security outfit codenamed Operation Amotekun has been arrested in Oyo State for allegedly shooting a police officer in Oyo town.

Naija News understands that the suspect whose name is revealed as Ibrahim Ogundele reportedly fired a gun at one Mr Fatai Yekini, a constable attached to the Ojongbodu Police Station in Oyo town.

Ogundele is reportedly attached to the Isale Oyo branch of the Oyo security corps. Confirming the incident that led to the arrest of the suspect, the state Police spokesman Olugbenga Fadeyi, noted that the incident happened at the Sanga area of Oyo during the last weekend.

According to him, the incident happened “when police officers at Ojongbodu Division were responding to calls to dislodge youths holding a carnival despite a warning.”

Fadeyi, however, confirmed that the Amotekun Corps personnel has been arrested and detained at the police station, adding that Yekini is currently receiving treatment at the Oyo State General Hospital, Owode, Oyo.
