Stanley Nwabali Nears Saudi Move As Sevilla Reject Adams Bid

Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is on the verge of securing a move to Saudi Arabia after months without a club.

According to South African outlet Soccer Laduma, a Saudi club has stepped up its interest in the Super Eagles shot stopper. Although clubs in Israel had been monitoring his situation, the 30-year-old is now expected to continue his career in Saudi Arabia.

The transfer is likely to be completed before the start of the new season.

Nwabali has been a free agent since leaving South African side Chippa United in February and is now poised to revive his career after several months on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Sevilla have turned down an offer from newly promoted Serie A club Venezia for Nigerian striker Akor Adams.

Transferfeed reported that Venezia’s bid was worth less than €10 million, well below Sevilla’s valuation.

The Spanish club are understood to be demanding between €20 million and €30 million for the 26-year-old forward.

Sevilla signed Adams from Ligue 1 side Montpellier for €6 million in January 2025, and the investment has already paid off. The Nigerian scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 32 appearances last season.

French giants Olympique Marseille are also said to be monitoring his situation. Adams remains under contract at Sevilla for another three years.

In the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Shooting Stars have secured the future of captain Ghali Falke after handing the defender a new contract until 2028.

Falke reached the milestone of 100 appearances for the Oluyole Warriors last season and played a key role as the Ibadan club earned a continental ticket.

The extension gives coach Nurudeen Aweroro a major boost as Shooting Stars prepare for both their domestic campaign and the CAF Confederation Cup. The club is also expected to strengthen the squad with more signings before the new season.

Elsewhere, Sporting Lagos have completed the signing of midfielder Valentine Ugwu from Abia Warriors ahead of the 2026-27 NPFL season.

Ugwu scored once in 14 league appearances last term and is expected to add quality and depth to Sporting Lagos’ midfield.

The club, back in the NPFL after spending the past few years in the Nigeria National League (NNL), are expected to make further additions as they prepare for their top-flight return.
